Will I receive training for fostering children?
Training for fostering children is an important part of your journey as a foster carer
Here at Welcome Foster Care, we believe that training for fostering is vital for our foster carers, to ensure that they are well supported in their role as a carer. The tiered approach for training is an ideal way of structuring the courses, as you can work your way up as your skills and experience as a foster carer increases. Initially, the Skills to Foster course is the first course to introduce potential carers to fostering. Other courses are based on various topics, as well as current topics which concern carers. Some of our courses and support groups are based on relevant topics such as, safeguarding children, online safety, sexual health, alcohol and drug awareness. We also offer specific courses to carers based on needs, for instance, courses suited for specialist fostering placements.
Will you receive any training?
Yes. As “professionals”, we expect foster carers to continue their learning, development and training for fostering throughout their foster care career, and as such, we provide ongoing development opportunities for new and experienced foster carers.
Welcome Foster Care has a tiered approach to training for fostering
Level 1 training – courses designed for new carers.
Level 2 training – courses designed for experienced carers.
Level 3 training – courses are designed for those carers who want to become specialist carers.
