Fostering Children with Complex Needs or Disabilities

WFC-what-is-fostering17Complex Needs Foster Carers are expected to care for children and young people with a wide range of disabilities or emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Do you have personal or professional experience of caring or working with children with at least ONE of the following:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Epilepsy
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Gastrostomy
  • Visual Impairment
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Global Developmental Delay
  • Statement of Special Educational Needs
  • Other disabilities

Can you:

  • Provide intensive, dedicated, all-round care
  • Be firm but gentle and calm
  • Support children to manage negative emotions in a safe way
  • Develop self-esteem and confidence
  • Offer a great deal of patience, flexibility, empathy and stamina
  • Provide at least one spare bedroom
