We have numerous voluntary opportunities available for qualified social workers.
If you have just left university or another educational establishment, and require the much needed experience before going on to pursue a career (which may also be available with us), get in touch with us immediately at email@example.com. Please do ensure that you include your CV as well as contact details, and any relevant skills and experience you may have.
You can become a volunteer social worker, or a mentor, helping countless children and young people establish themselves as individuals, and make a difference to their lives.
We have opportunities available all over London and the surrounding counties, as well as further north. Please do take a look at the areas we serve section for information on the locations we provide carers.
We are able to offer voluntary experience in the following areas:
- Assessing applicants in becoming foster carers
- Supervising foster carers
- Training and development of foster carers
- We also have opportunities to work directly with foster children.
Giving your friendship and companionship is very important to the development of a child or young person, as they seldom have somebody that they can call a friend, who listens, shares conversation with, and offers impartial and independent advice. Commonly, there is a lack of coherency and consistency in the relationship between a foster child, the carers, social workers and so on, and by giving some of your spare time, you can build the bridge and always be there to support young people under care.
All you need is the time to commit, a great attitude, and the determination to really make a big change to somebody’s everyday life. You’ll get to meet lots of new people, make new friends, go out, socialise and above all, the feel-good factor of helping somebody in need is second-to-none.
“Volunteering gave me a sense of freedom to connect with young people as a mentor, and I know I made a difference. We went out for various activities, and I even learnt archery at an activity centre, with one of the foster children!”
Craig Deakin, North London
